Welcome to the website for the Heart of Virginia Council of the Boy Scouts of America!  It is our mission to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes based on the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law.  Thanks for taking your time to explore us on this excellent website.  Let me know through my email, listed below, if we can help you with anything.

We value your support at all times, but especially in this time of national and global economic concerns, we need your help and support more than ever.  In previous recessions, Scouting has endured because our friends have stepped up with the needed financial and emotional support, and we need that now, from you and others.  We can never assume that others know all the positive things of Scouting that we know: we must tell everyone we know of our belief in and support of the values of mission of the Boy Scouts of America and ask them to help us.  Our nation and world need Scouting's leadership now more than ever.

This website has been carefully designed to guide you to the information you seek, whether it be to find a Cub Scout Pack for your son to join, to learn more about our outdoor programs, to make a gift to Scouting or to do a multitude of other things.  But, it is also a work in progress, so please give us your feedback if we are not satisfying your needs or if you can help us. 

We are excited about the 100^th Anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America in 2010.  We have some celebratory plans, but our primary effort is to organize 100 new Scouting programs in our 24 county footprint so this great Scouting adventure can be enjoyed by many more young people.  In case you were wondering, 13,706 youth and 5,705 adults were registered in Scouting in our council and 3 million youth were registered nationally at the end of 2008!  We once again earned the National Centennial Quality Council Award and had 312 Eagle Scouts during the year.
