Philmont 2009 Council Contingent

Explore the Philmont high-country on a 12-day backpacking expedition.  Experience the thrill of climbing mountians over two miles high!  Learn technical rock climbing, archeological excavation techniques, and blacksmithing.  Relive the by-gone days of the Old West as you ride a western saddle horse, learn the ways of the mountian man, pack burros and pan for gold in a clear mountian stream.  Discover the wonder of Scouting's Paradise as over 800,000 Scouts, Venturers and leaders have since 1939.  

 The Heart of Virginia Council is sending five (5) crews to Philmont Scout Ranch June 28-July 12, 2009.   Each crew consistes of ten Scouts and two crew leaders.  This is a council contingent, please read detail information in application.
