Gladbrook Farm Ecology Area
Formerly a working farm, this area of open pasture is a haven for wildlife, including ducks, geese, deer, rabbits, and many more species. Property management will emphasize sound conservation practices to optimize habitat development. This will also be the location for large district and council events/camporees and is also suitable for unit level activities such as wide games, capture the flag, etc. All activities located in this area must have approval from the Reservation Caretaker.
Phillips Wilderness Camping Area
In response to the demand for traditional backpacking opportunities and remote, Leave- No- Trace wilderness camping, the council has set aside a large 275 acre tract for this use. There are mixed surface features in this area, including open fields, hard and soft wood forests, ponds, and access to Lake Chesdin. This area was formerly used for troop camping and district use, but will be closed to vehicular traffic and will be accessible by foot, bike, or water only. There is a public boat landing located nearby. Be prepared to backpack all gear into the area, about a 1.2 mile hike. No motor vehicle traffic will be permitted!
