Get in the Game
Geocaching is a growing treasure hunt using gps units. Units and individuals are encouraged to create and place caches and travel bugs celebrating the anniversary of the BSA. Letterboxing is the low tech original clue based adventure and does not require gps units. There are over 100 boxes and caches in the Richmond area. Try both. Stay tuned for more.
100 Units for the 100th
The council plans to organize 100 new Boy Scout Troops, Cub Scout Packs and Venture Crews to creat more opportunities for youth to join Scouting during the centennial celebration. 41 have been organized.
Local Speakers Bureau
We have a small but growing group of people who will tell our story at civic club meetings and other group gatherings.
Charter Presentations
Each year, a unit's charter should be presented to the Institution Head during a large gathering of the organization like a church service or civic club meeting. Be sure to do this in 2010 during Scout Sunday, Scout Sabath, or other significant event. Stay tuned for a simple script and links to Scout Sunday resources.
